Liwan District Maternal and Child Health Hospital is a "Grade II Class A" maternal and child health specialty institution with considerable scale, integrating prevention, healthcare, medical treatment, teaching, and research. It is the district's women's and children's healthcare, family planning technical guidance, and professional training center. In August 1996, it obtained the district's first "Baby-Friendly Hospital" title. The hospital has four subordinate medical and health service outlets: Chajiao Street Hexingyuan Community Health Service Station, Qiaodong Community Outpatient Department, Chajiao Street Community Health Service Center, and Dongxiao Street Community Health Service Center. The hospital has 219 on-staff employees, including 191 health technical personnel (87.2%), 19 senior professional technical personnel, 43 intermediate professional technical personnel, and 130 with associate degree or above (59%). The hospital has over 50 open beds. The hospital has complete medical facilities, including color ultrasound diagnostic instrument (USA), black and white B-ultrasound (Germany), electronic colposcope (USA), remote fetal monitoring and central monitoring system, defibrillation ECG monitor, hysteroscope, dental comprehensive treatment instrument, fully automatic biochemical analyzer (Finland), fully automatic coagulation analyzer (Germany), fully automatic leukocyte analyzer (USA), dynamic electrocardiograph and breast scan diagnostic instrument, neonatal resuscitation table, ventilator, and other diagnostic and treatment instruments and equipment. Our hospital has complete department settings, with over ten specialty outpatient departments including gynecology, obstetrics, neonatology, pediatrics, women's healthcare, child healthcare, internal medicine, surgery, ENT, traditional Chinese medicine, andrology, and infertility. It conducts healthcare and family planning technical services for the entire district, mainly including: (1) Women's healthcare: general survey and treatment of common gynecological diseases, healthcare for women at all stages, remote fetal monitoring, breast disease prevention and treatment center, cervical disease specialty outpatient, maternal mortality review, etc.; (2) Child healthcare: child planned immunization, child health examination, child ENT healthcare, 0-28 day neonatal behavioral neurological assessment, 52-item neurological system examination for children under 1 year old and 0-3 year old children's motor function assessment projects, child intelligence testing, high-risk infant early intervention, neonatal touch, neonatal swimming, neonatal disease screening, neonatal birth defect monitoring and management, perinatal mortality review, etc.; (3) Family planning technical services: floating population pregnant women healthcare and family planning management, appropriate family planning technology, family planning technical training and guidance, etc.; (4) Health education: operating newlywed school, pregnant women school, community health knowledge lectures, school and kindergarten health worker and childcare worker training, grassroots maternal and child health work guidance, etc.; (5) Community health services: medical treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, healthcare, family planning, and health education six major community health services for community residents. Obstetrics and gynecology is one of our hospital's key specialties, with strong technical capabilities and 10 intermediate and senior professional technical personnel, ranking first among district hospitals. Through several years of talent cultivation and discipline leader introduction, an obstetrics and gynecology technical talent team has gradually formed. Our hospital fully leverages the role of the obstetrics and gynecology expert group, guiding the district's healthcare business and family planning work, accumulating rich experience and forming our hospital's unique resource advantages. Currently, our hospital is constructing a new comprehensive building. The new building covers 7,500 square meters with a total building area of 12,790 square meters, planning to set up about 150 beds, expected to be put into use in 2007.
