Guangzhou Medical University Affiliated Fifth Hospital was established in 1957. It is a comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, healthcare, and teaching, affiliated with Guangzhou Port, the largest port in South China (billion-ton port). In October 1995, it was rated as a Grade II Class A hospital and Baby-Friendly Hospital by Guangdong Provincial Health Department. In 1989, it first joined Guangzhou 120 Emergency Center. In 1999, it was listed by the "Social Security Bureau" as a designated hospital for municipal unemployed workers' medical insurance and municipal work injury medical insurance. In 2000, it was first accepted by the Social Security Bureau as a Guangzhou designated unit for managed retiree medical services and Guangzhou enterprise employee maternity insurance medical service designated unit. In 2001, it became one of the first batch of designated hospitals for Guangzhou urban workers' basic medical insurance. The hospital is located in Dasha Town, Huangpu District, Guangzhou, a densely populated area, covering 20,197 square meters with a building area of 13,439 square meters, 222 beds, and 352 staff members, including 24 senior professionals and 51 intermediate professionals.
