Dagang People's Hospital is located at the southern end of Panyu District. Founded in 1958 and rated as a national Grade II-A hospital in 1995, it is currently the province's only town-level Grade II-A hospital. Through nearly 50 years of development under several generations of medical workers' efforts, Dagang Hospital has evolved from an initial health service station into a modern comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, healthcare, rehabilitation, and health education, consistently committed to providing the highest quality medical services to the people, persevering in safeguarding public health. In September 2003, following higher-level directives, the former Tanzhou Hospital merged into Dagang People's Hospital, marking a significant milestone in Dagang People's Hospital's development history. Since then, Dagang People's Hospital's building area reached 22,621 square meters, medical building area 12,775 square meters, employing 410 staff including 263 professional technical personnel and 78 with intermediate or above titles. The hospital actually opens 300 beds, laying a solid foundation for fully meeting society's medical needs. In recent two years, the hospital invested over 10 million yuan introducing Siemens dual-spiral CT, American imported full digital color B-ultrasound, American imported Stryker laparoscopy, choledochoscopy, large X-ray machine, fully automatic biochemical analyzer, electronic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and other internationally advanced equipment, creating good hardware facilities for clinical practice, scientific research, and new technology development. Successfully conducting new endoscopic minimally invasive gallbladder stone and polyp removal surgery, laparoscopic total colectomy, laparoscopic liver rupture repair, laparoscopic tension-free hernia repair, laparoscopic hysterectomy, total hip and knee replacement, ventriculoperitoneal shunt, thrombolytic therapy for coronary heart disease, silicone tube lacrimal duct implantation, and other high-difficulty surgeries reaching domestic leading levels. Laparoscopy-endoscopy surgery, as Dagang People's Hospital's leading discipline under the leadership of Associate Chief Physician Qiao Tie, has become one of Panyu District's six key construction disciplines.
