Peking University Shenzhen Hospital is located at the foot of the beautiful Lianhua Mountain in Shenzhen. It is a modern tertiary Grade A comprehensive public hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, research, prevention and healthcare, invested and built by the Shenzhen municipal government. The hospital was completed and opened at the end of 1999. In March 2001, the hospital was officially renamed "Peking University Shenzhen Hospital" and "Peking University Shenzhen Clinical Medical College," becoming a non-directly affiliated hospital of Peking University. It was rated as a tertiary Grade A hospital in 2011, passed the tertiary Grade A hospital re-evaluation in 2017, and became a "Smart Hospital Construction Unit" in Guangdong Province. In December 2018, it became a national pilot hospital for establishing and improving modern hospital management systems. In 2019, it passed the National Electronic Medical Record System Application Level Classification Evaluation Level 6. The hospital's medical quality has been ranked first or Grade A in Shenzhen for 14 consecutive years, ranking 32nd among the top 50 best hospitals in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in 2018. In July 2019, the hospital was selected as a high-level hospital construction unit in Guangdong Province. The hospital covers an area of 59,000 square meters with a total building area of 212,000 square meters, 1,600 approved beds, and 1,670 open beds. The hospital currently has over 3,000 staff members, including 763 with senior professional titles and 742 with master's and doctoral degrees, accounting for more than 30% of total medical and technical personnel, with 43 high-level talents at all levels. The hospital has 55 clinical and medical technology departments, with approximately 3 million annual outpatient and emergency visits, approximately 80,000 annual discharged patients, and approximately 56,000 annual surgeries.
