Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology was founded in 1941 and is a large stomatological hospital, school of stomatology, and stomatological research institution integrating medical treatment, teaching, research, prevention, and healthcare for comprehensive development. In the 2018 "QS World University Subject Rankings," it ranked 15th in stomatology worldwide and first in mainland China. As a Grade III Class A stomatological specialty hospital under the National Health Commission, the hospital's stomatological specialty medical service scale is the largest nationwide. Currently, it has 632 dental chairs, 157 approved beds, 15 clinical departments, 8 medical technology departments, complete functional departments, 5 subordinate branch medical institutions, and over 2,500 staff members. In 2018, it served 1.6447 million outpatient and emergency patients, with daily average outpatient visits of 5,500 and annual inpatient admissions of over 7,500. It has obtained all eight "National Clinical Key Specialty" construction projects in stomatology categories. In 2017, entrusted by the National Health Commission, it established the "National Stomatology Professional Medical Quality Management and Control Center," leading national stomatology quality control work. Since 2010, it has ranked first in the Fudan Version China Hospital Specialty Reputation Ranking for stomatology for 9 consecutive years. It ranks first in the Peking University Version inaugural "China's Best Clinical Discipline Evaluation Ranking" stomatology comprehensive list.
