Ruijin Hospital Luwan Branch, formerly Luwan District Central Hospital, is a Grade II-A comprehensive hospital. Its predecessor was Nanyang Hospital, Shanghai's largest private hospital, founded in 1918. In October 1999, it cooperated with Ruijin Hospital and was renamed Shanghai Second Medical University Affiliated Ruijin Hospital Luwan Branch. In July 2000, it joined the Shanghai Ruijin Hospital Group. In July 2005, following the formal establishment of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine after the merger of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Second Medical University, the hospital was renamed Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Affiliated Ruijin Hospital Luwan Branch. Ruijin Hospital Luwan Branch is located in Shanghai's central urban area with 400 authorized beds, employing over 700 staff members including over 565 medical technical personnel, 75 with senior professional titles, 130 with intermediate professional titles, and over 30 with master's degrees or above (including 1 doctor and 1 postdoctoral fellow). Luwan Branch is also a teaching hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Bengbu Medical College. The hospital has main departments including internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, pediatrics, and other clinical and medical technology departments, including specialties such as gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, endocrinology, neurology, hematology, general surgery, orthopedics, pediatric orthopedics, urology, gynecology, pediatrics, and rehabilitation.
