Shanghai Ruijin Rehabilitation Hospital is located in the southwest of Huangpu District. Founded in 1957, its predecessor was Luwan District Hospital. It was renamed Dongnan Hospital in 1993 and became a member unit of Shanghai's first medical consortium "Ruijin-Luwan Medical Consortium" in 2011. In August 2015, as a pilot reform member unit of the "Ruijin-Luwan Regional Medical Consortium," the hospital was officially unveiled as "Shanghai Ruijin Rehabilitation Hospital (Preparatory)," with the second name "Huangpu District Dongnan Hospital." In September 2015, the rehabilitation medicine department members of Ruijin Hospital Luwan Branch moved in entirely, further enriching the rehabilitation hospital's professional staff and business strength. The hospital relies on the advantages of the "Ruijin-Luwan Medical Consortium," inviting experts from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston to provide rehabilitation team training and rehabilitation medicine medical education and research capability training. As the rehabilitation medicine department outpatient and ward business volume continues to increase, the types of diseases treated gradually increase, and specialty differentiation becomes increasingly apparent. In October 2017, the hospital passed the rehabilitation hospital "de-preparatory" expert evaluation. On June 4, 2018, it received approval from the Shanghai Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission agreeing to remove "preparatory" status and officially name it "Shanghai Ruijin Rehabilitation Hospital." The hospital has four wards, mainly treating rehabilitation, internal medicine, surgery, and orthopedic patients. The hospital has over 200 health technical personnel, including over 70 with intermediate and senior professional titles.
