Xuhui District Dental Disease Prevention and Treatment Institute was established in 1960, formerly Xuhui District Dental Joint Prevention and Treatment Institute, formed by merging District First Dental Joint Clinic (established 1952), District Second Dental Joint Clinic (established 1955), and District Third Dental Joint Clinic (established 1957), with the institute located at No. 598 Hengshan Road, the former Second Dental Joint Clinic site. In September 1977, Xuhui Dental Prevention moved to Lane 687, No. 2 Zhaojiabang Road, with the name changed to "Xuhui District Dental Disease Prevention and Treatment Institute." Later the address was changed to No. 685 Zhaojiabang Road. Our institute is a Grade II-B specialty hospital, currently employing over 130 medical staff, including approximately 50 with intermediate and senior professional titles, 2 doctors, and 14 masters. Our institute has been dedicated to oral disease prevention, healthcare, diagnosis, and treatment work for city residents, undertaking some oral medicine teaching tasks, having successively served as a teaching base for Shanghai Second Medical University Stomatology Department, Tongji University School of Stomatology, Tongji University College of Advanced Technology, and Shanghai Staff Medical College. We operate clinical departments including oral medicine, prosthodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics, and special needs outpatient clinics, open 365 days a year. The main institute has 52 dental treatment chairs with daily outpatient volume exceeding 800 visits. Additionally, the oral prevention department is responsible for dental prevention work for approximately 110,000 children and adolescents in district primary and secondary schools and kindergartens. We also offer the following special projects: orthodontic aesthetic restoration, implant denture restoration, microscope root canal treatment, fine restoration, comprehensive periodontal disease treatment, full-mouth biological functional denture restoration, comprehensive periodontal disease treatment, and cardiovascular disease tooth extraction, providing medical services for citizens with different needs. Xuhui Dental Prevention has always been in a leading position in the city's dental prevention system in management and professional work. To promote hospital management system reform, our institute passed ISO9001:2000 quality management system certification, leaving valuable experience for specialty hospital standardized management. In recent years, through talent introduction, quality management, scientific research innovation, and implementing the policy of scientific and technological development, our institute received "Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Third Prize" in 1998 and 2006, and "Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award," and was rated as a Shanghai Oral Treatment Instrument Disinfection Technical Operation Standard Demonstration Unit in 2008, making real achievements in better oral disease prevention and treatment. Under strict management by successive Xuhui Dental Prevention administrators and the efforts of all institute staff, we have received patient and social recognition. We have successively received titles including National Health System Advanced Collective, National Model Workers' Home, National Youth Civilization, eight consecutive Shanghai Civilized Units, and Shanghai Workers' Pioneer. More and more citizens recognize us, with outpatient volume exceeding 210,000 visits in 2007 and exceeding 230,000 visits in 2008.
