infoAbout
Shanghai Hudong Geriatric Nursing Home is a Grade I Class A hospital and a designated medical insurance unit. It has outpatient and inpatient departments. Its predecessor was Longjiang Street Hospital, established in 1960. At the end of 1991, due to regional planning implemented by Yangpu District Health Bureau, Longjiang Street Hospital, Jiangpu Street Hospital, and Pingliang Street Hospital were "dismantled and merged into one," becoming Pingliang Road Street Hospital. In April 1994, the staff of the original Longjiang Street Hospital were transferred back to this hospital, establishing Shanghai Retired Workers Hudong Red Cross Nursing Hospital. In 1999, it was renamed "Hudong Geriatric Nursing Hospital." In 2002, the hospital was rated as a district civilized unit and patriotic health advanced unit. This hospital is a nursing home with welfare and public welfare nature. It has opened four geriatric nursing wards, two of which implement medical insurance policies, with monthly average personal payment for medical expenses, nursing expenses, and meal expenses during hospitalization between 700 and 800 yuan; the other two wards are self-paying wards, with total monthly charges of 910 yuan, including hospitalization fees, nursing expenses, meal expenses, etc. The hospital charges reasonably and is affordable for the vast majority of retired elderly and working-class patients. The outpatient department specially invites experts and attending physicians from tertiary and secondary hospitals for consultations. Characteristic departments include facial paralysis specialty, dermatology, traditional Chinese medicine, cardiology, diabetes specialty, neurology, and ophthalmology. The hospital has a group of medical personnel dedicated to the "sunset career," currently with 62 staff members, including 6 with intermediate professional titles, with health professional technical personnel accounting for 77.4% of all hospital staff. The hospital mainly admits elderly chronic disease patients and terminal care patients, as well as patients who have lost or partially lost their ability to live, implementing full-course treatment and nursing.
